The Basics
Kurtzpel is mainly an anime arena action game, focused around 2v2 PVP battles with 12 (At the time of writing) PVE bosses. You can pick from four Karmas (Weapons) and equip two of them at the same, quick swapping between them. The game has a strong focus on its anime visuals and fashion hence all gear can have the exact same stats if it is of the same type. It also has custom matches that allow for 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 modes and a newly introduced 3v3 practice mode (Without the ability to form 3 man parties at the time of writing).
New Player Experience
Starting out you will be able to create one free character per account. You will then be asked a few questions to determine your Lua or "Personality". You can then pick whichever type you like if you're not happy with your given Lua. Your Lua determines your character's stance in the game and what customization options you can pick from if you want all the options available to you must remake the character later with a rebirth ticket (I will explain the item store in more detail later on in the guide). Kurtzpedia has pictures of every stance here if you want to see them here: https://kurtzpedia.net/w/Character_CreationThen you can pick your starting Karma the Sword Talaimh (Greatsword) or the Dance of Wind (Bow). You can get the Diabolic Witch and Blazing Fist Karma and the other karma you did not pick after you complete your starting Karma's three solo missions and then compete that karma's set of 3 solo only epic missions. You will then get to pick a starting accessory if stats are very important to you and you don't mind fashion as much I recommend you pick the scarf as getting other accessories in that slot is harder to fill then most other slots (I will explain this in more detail later in the gear section). After all that you can start the game.
The Lobby
Going over the lobby, this is where you take missions PVP and PVE, upgrade and change your gear, use the training grounds, track your rank, track NPCs for Affinity and where you buy and open supply boxes.Mission Map:Tome of Knowledge:Training Grounds:Stone of Honor:Supply Box:Ensher for NPC Tracking:
Karmas
Karmas are the weapons in this game. Each weapon has an NPC that represents that Karma and rewards skills for said Karma. Karmas also are put into two classes: Breakers and Slayers. Breakers provide high defense and focus on interrupting attacks but low overall damage compared to Slayers. Slayers have much higher damage but much lower defense and is not as good at interrupting attacks like Breakers. As you are about to equip and swap between two different karma you can create your own combos with them both. The Karma as of the time of writing with their official descriptions are: Sword Talaimh (Breaker)"Great Sword Karma. Interrupt enemy attacks to create opportunities for your allies"Dance of Wind (Slayer)"Longbow Karma. Deals high damage with swift and powerful attacks"Diabolic Witch (Slayer)"Staff Karma. Use a variety of skills to cause different status effects while dealing high damage with powerful magic"Blazing Fist (Breaker)"Gauntlet Karma. Approach swiftly and use grapple skills to create opportunities for your allies"I will go into more detail about the Karmas in the PVP and PVE sections but one thing I will briefly go over is the karma combos, Breaker/Slayer, Breaker/Breaker, Slayer/Slayer.Breaker/Slayer is the most common and versatile setup, letting you have the flexibility to do high amounts of damage, have great combo potential and take damage with your breaker equip. This also lets you have access to burst damage thanks to your slayer. This setup works for both PVP and PVE and is what I recommend for solo players.Breaker/Breaker is the 2nd most common setup and lets you have high defense and great interrupt but outside of the longer combos you have the damage is low and you might have to rely more on your teammate for burst damage. This setup is mostly built for PVP and not as useful as the others for PVE.Slayer/Slayer is the highest damage output you can get but leaves you the most vulnerable to damage and at the highest risk to burst damage but with a solid teammate, you can get kills at a higher rate than the other setups. It can work well for PVE but requires you to really understand the bosses and your Karmas more than the others and in PVP expect to be focused on whenever the other team figures out what your running. The in game combos at a glance picture from the Kurtzpel Community Discord:
NPCs and Affinity
There are currently six NPCs you can gain affinity within Kurtzpel. Four of them represent their respective Karma and are where you will get new skills and Weapons for that Karma. The other two give more clothes and accessories you can equip than the others to make up the lack of skills they give, Crim will also give you one of each Sub-Karma Crystal. All NPC will eventually give their entire outfit when you max out their Affinity. Affinity has five levels starting from Lv.1 Met Before to Lv.5 Soul Mate. You can track a NPC you like to gain affinity with Ensher in the lobby and have a chance to meet them after the battle. When talking to a NPC you will have dialog options to gain affinity. You can also trigger keywords at certain times, giving a large burst of affinity. Normally I would go into more detail but the steam user Remilnelia™ has written a great guide about affinity already and is worth a look here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1731286788Steam user Servo239 also has a guide at maxing your chances of getting more dialog options here:https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1740145830Steam user Yun has a guide to keyword topics here:https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1761938532I will list all the NPC Affinity Achievement Gifts and their info here though.Ensher Renhart "Greetings Chaser! AP and CP
AP and CP will be gained from missions both PVP and PVE. They are the main way to upgrade your character. Ap is basically a form of XP in Kurtzpel. It will level up your Karma, it's skills, sub-skill slots when they are equipped. CP allows you to pay for gear upgrades. Also, they both will allow you to get more free supply boxes from in-game the supply box (Which I will explain in its own section).
Skills
Skills in Kurtpel start at level 1 and max at level 3 from AP when they are currently equipped. There are a few different types of skills. Unique Karma Crystals (Q) which are ultimate skills which require rage to be 100% to use. Karma Crystals (E,R,F) which are basic skills that require mana to use.Passive Skills which start maxed and give passive effects. It is important to know that you can only use the passive skill your main karma (Left side of the character menu).
Character Stats and Builds
Kurtpel like many RPG has Character Stats the determine the performance of your character. While I won't go into great detail about them in section I do want to talk about your base stats. The base stats are:STR/DEX/INT/WIS/HPI will be referring to the Kurtzpel community stat guide on this:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/3/d/e/2PACX-1vQzg95Q9ONZ-UVtmQ6JEHgrpAWPSScGC_cfm3w54a5dpbgIM2Jx6ow-cNZuI130REl4GKhCilGBIlii/pubhtml#All characters start with 5 in each stat but after learning what Karmas you like and what role you prefer to take you can change these stats to specialize your character. To do this you can spend 1008 CP at the Tome of Knowledge or use a rebirth ticket. Here are a few common builds from Eltheca Library:https://kurtzpelonline.com/karma-builds/The all-around Physical build:6 STR / 6 AGI / 3 INT / 6 WIS / 4 HPDual Slayer:5 STR / 5 AGI / 5 INT / 6 WIS / 4 HPBreaker with Witch utility:6 STR / 5 AGI / 4 INT / 6 WIS / 4 HPWitch Main:X STR / X AGI / 6 INT / 6 WIS / X HPThese are by no means the only builds, feel free to try out various builds to see what works for you.
Character and Steam Inventories
Kurtpel uses two different inventory systems, Character Inventory, and Steam Inventory. Every item can be swapped between the two of them but at the cost of resetting any item from your Character inventory if it has any upgrades including if it's dyed but you can also use this to reset items if you feel like re-upgrading an item.It also uses the Steam community marketplace, this allows you to sell almost any item in the game as long as you place it into your Steam inventory for seven days. To find the Steam inventory go to your ESC menu and hit Steam inventory. To place an item in your into your steam inventory from your Character inventory click the item and save it. Do the same thing in reverse to get an item from the Steam inventory. If you have brought other character slots or want to delete a character but keep the items you can place everything in the steam inventory to keep or transfer items.
Gear Overview
Gear in Kurtpel is separated into 3 different main sections, Weapons, Costume, and Accessory. Gear has stars to show how upgraded they are, 1 star being fresh and 3 stars showing the gear is maxed. You can upgrade gear in the library with CP. All gear of the same type can have the same stat lines when fully upgraded. All gear is also able to be dyed with three different dye types that I will go over later in this guide.
Weapons
For weapons, your main karma will be on the left and your sub karma will be on the right. You can equip a Unique Karma Crystal, Karma Crystals in the skill slots and Sub Karma Crystals as well. All weapons have 6 modification slots but the Rookie weapons which have 4 due to having the 2nd and 3rd Karma Crystal slots unlocked by default. These modifications include: Upgrade Performance, which lets you upgrade the damage the weapon does. You can upgrade this twice. Unlock Karma Crystal Slot, which lets you unlock the 2nd and 3rd skill slots. You can upgrade this twice. Unlock Sub-Karma Crystal slots, which lets you unlock slots for sub karma crystals. The meta way to upgrade your weapon as of the time of writing is to upgrade your weapons is to upgrade performance twice, unlock both of your Karma Crystal slots and to get two Sub Karma Crystal slots.
Costumes
Costumes are simple to understand. They are only 4 types of costumes: Top pice, Bottom piece, Top Piece + Bottom Piece, and Undergarment. They provide defense and they can only upgrade performance twice providing more defense. Undergarments provide no stats and are purely cosmetic.
Accessory
Accessories are the gear slots that are hardest to fill and give the most customization. The slots and the gear you can get for free as NPC affinity rewards and monster drops in each slot at the time of writing are as follows:Hair-Front: Great Warlock's Horn, Crim's Star Hair Pin, Lire's Flower Headband, Lire's Flower Headband.Hair-Side: Shey's Uniform Hat, Crim's Theatric Top Hat, Ensher's Commander Hat, Marian's Large Fox Ears.Face-Top: Wind Guardian's Mask, Rookie Chaser Eye Patch, Ensher's Round Glasses.Face-Bottom: Rookie Chaser Mask, Official Chaser Mask, Reorgea's Mask.Belt: Black Panther's Tail, Basic Chaser Symbol (Leg), Ethan's Double Belt, Marian's Fox Tail, Crim's Chase Waistband, Jin's Fighter Sash.Neck: Stone Golem's Necklace, Basic Chaser Symbol (Neck).Right Hand: Lancer's Gauntlet (R), Rookie Chaser Gloves (R), Official Chaser Gloves (R), Ensher's Commander Wristband (R), Ethan's Leather Gloves (R), Jin's Fighter Vambrace, Crim's Theatric Wristband (R), Basic Chaser Symbol (R).Left Hand: Garvan's Gauntlet (L), Rookie Chaser Gloves (L), Official Chaser Gloves (L), Ensher's Commander Wristband (L), Ethan's Leather Gloves (R), Jin's Fighter Arm Bandage, Crim's Theatric Wristband (L), Basic Chaser Symbol (L).Back: Calamity's Cape, Garganta's Wings, Marian's Wizard Cape.Shoes: Obsidian Fist Master's Foot Ornament, Rookie Chaser Leather Boots, Official Chaser Boots, Ensher's Commander Slippers, Ethan's Leather Boots, Lire's Eryuell Archer Boots, Marian's Clerk Shoes, Jin's Fighter Shoes, Crim's Theatric Shoes. So the reason I listed them is as you can see out of the neck slot is hard to fill without paying atm only the Basic Chaser Symbol (Neck) you can start with and the Stone Golem's Necklace is your free options, so I suggest you start with the Basic Chaser Symbol (Neck) to avoid an RNG grind for the Stone Golem's Necklace. As for stats accessories can provide:Max HPMax StaminaMax ManaRage GenerationHP Recovery (Sec.)Stamina Recovery (Sec.)Mana Recovery (Sec.)Physical CRIT RateMagic CRIT RateCasting SpeedAction SpeedMovement SpeedThough not all accessories types have access to the same set of stats, for example, Face Top accessories has access to Max Stamina, Stamina Recovery (Sec.), Rage Generation, Physical CRIT Rate, Magic CRIT Rate, Action Speed, and Casting Speed as options. As for meta options this greatly depends on your playstyle but Rage Generation is a powerful stat at the time of writing, it allows you to roughly double the ultimates you can output in a single life.
PVE
PVE at the time of writing is comprised of 12 missions. All have a single boss to fight each having their own accessory drop. The drop chance scales with difficulty starting from 1% to 5%, this will also scale up the amount of AP and CP you get from competing for the mission. The scaling difficulties are: Easy > Normal > Hard > Very Hard > Grand ChaseAs for help with these missions, the Reddit user g25774 has been doing guides to each mission on Grand Chase so I will direct you there for now:https://www.reddit.com/user/g25774/posts/But for a quick overview, PVE missions give your team two "lives" that will be consumed after a ten-second timer auto resurrecting you or your teammate if you manually resurrect them before the timer goes off it will not consume a life, So be sure to try resurrecting your teammate when possible. When your both die with zero lives you fail the mission. Completing the mission quickly (Seemingly under 5 minutes) will let you do the mission at a higher difficulty but failing a mission or taking to long can lower your current difficulty. Also, Diabolic Witch is very strong in all PVE missions. It's raw damage output and ability to put up a blocking Ice Wall to revive teammates or block incoming damage makes it basically the best PVE Karma at the moment.
PVP
PVP is the main mode for the game, it has its own ranking system visible to everyone next to your name in the lobby and multiple modes. The game types available at the time of writing are Deathmatch with two maps, Capture the Flag with two maps and Conquest with one map. You can play Ranked 2v2, Practice 3v3 and Custom matches that are 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3 with spectators at the cost of 300 CP. The ranks pictured by Steam user harrison:Check out his guide here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1740635026You can also check your leaderboard rankings at the Stone of Honor.
The Item Store and Supply Boxes
The item store in Kurtpel sells Advanced Supply Boxes (Loot boxes), Costumes, Character slots, and rebirth tickets for real money.Advanced Supply Boxes are opened at the Supply Box "NPC" in the lobby, these allow you to get items only within these boxes but as of a recent update you can now buy Advance and Basic supply boxes with AP and CP. The way it works is as you complete missions the AP you gain fills up "XP bar" that when filled lets you buy a box with CP then resetting this "XP bar". Advanced Supply boxes cost 15,000 AP to fill and cost 18,000 CP to buy. Basic Supply boxes cost 3,000 AP to fill and cost 6,000 CP to buy. Advance and Basic Supply boxes gain AP at the same time and do not affect each other when you buy one or the other, this means with the current costs you can get 5 Basic Supply boxes before buying one Advance Supply box with the same 15,000 AP, assuming you have enough CP.Here are the rates for the Advanced Supply boxes:The rates for Basic Supply boxes are currently unknown but they are lower rates than Advanced Supply boxes. For a list of all the current items in supply boxes (or items in general) look here: https://kurtzpedia.net/w/Weaponhttps://kurtzpedia.net/w/Costumehttps://kurtzpedia.net/w/AccessoryCostumes from the item store are the same as costumes you can get from anywhere else besides their looks. You can buy them as single pieces or as bundled sets. The Item store does also sell the NPC's undergarments and this is the only place to get them.Characters Slots allow you to make more characters on the same Steam account.Rebirth Tickets allow you to remake your character's base look but with all the customization options unlocked regardless of Lua type as well as set your base character stats and change your name.
Author's comments, Credits and Thanks
If you made it this far I would first like to thank you for reading this far. This is my first guide of this scope. I wanted a guide to help a lot of the new players I see that don't understand the basics especially with the lack of tutorials at the game's current state. This guide will be updated every once in a while and I will eventually add some more advance info but any feedback is appreciated and especially help with the more advanced information. If your willing to help with the guide feel free to let me know. Also if you see me in-game and have questions feel free to ask, I try to answer questions whenever possible.Credits:Kurtzpedia for a ton of infohttps://kurtzpedia.net/w/Main_PageAffinity and You: Getting those rewardsBy Remilnelia™https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1731286788How To Get Full ConversationsBy Servo239https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1740145830Special conversation list (topics only)By Yunhttps://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1761938532Miscellaneous Information about KurtzPelBy harrisonhttps://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1740635026u/g25774's Grand Chase guideshttps://www.reddit.com/user/g25774/posts/Eltheca Library:https://kurtzpelonline.com/The Kurtzpel Community Discord:https://discord.gg/6bQJx8t
